BMI Remembers Dr. Barbara Petersen
BMI was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Dr. Barbara Petersen, who passed away on January 24 at the age of 78. A former longtime BMI executive in the Classical department, Barbara was a tireless champion for our composers and publishers, helping lead the fight to protect their copyrights. Barbara spent her 34 years here building long-lasting relationships and touching the lives of countless affiliates whose music she cared so deeply about.
“I and my colleagues at BMI Classical are grateful for the opportunity we had to learn from Barbara before her retirement,” said Deirdre Chadwick, Executive Director Classical, New York. “Stepping into her shoes was a huge responsibility, and we are proud to continue her commitment to composers and their rights while also hopefully leading as she did with warmth and kindness.”
BMI was truly fortunate to count Barbara as a team member, and we will always remember her dedication and her passion.
