There is no right time, there’s only RaiNao. With a salsa vocalist for a father and her own talent for saxophone, Naomi Ramírez—better known as RaiNao—has never known a life without music. After attending the Libre de Música of San Juan school, she studied theater in college, later getting singing gigs at church and performing with Puerto Rican artists including Rafa Pabón, Randy “Nota Loca,” and Wiso G. What followed was four years of training for both her vocal cords and her shyness before she started releasing her own music in 2020. Early tracks like “Track1,” “Celular,” and “Online” gave way to her breakthrough single (“Me Fui”) and her debut project, ahora A.K.A. Nao; standouts from the eight-track set include “Un Amarre” featuring Villano Antillano, “LUV,” and “Plug.” Since then, she has performed all around Puerto Rico, taken the stage at SXSW, and was invited by Bad Bunny to sing “LUV” with him at his tour stop in Puerto Rico. Her latest single, “Tentretiene,” produced by Wiso Rivera and Kenobi, dropped in April.
