BMI Congratulates BRITs Rising Star Award Winner Griff
Pop singer-songwriter Griff now joins a long list of BMI family members who have won the coveted BRITs Rising Star Award. She was chosen among nominees that included Pa Salieu and Rina Sawayama. BMI singer-songwriters who were previously named Rising Star Award winners include Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, James Bay and Celeste.
Griff released her first EP Mirror Talk in 2019. She was then nominated for the Ivor Novello Rising Star Award with Apple Music, where she was mentored by songwriting sensation and BMI affiliate, Kamille. In addition to being an artist in her own right, Griff is a brilliant songwriter with credits that include Hailee Steinfeld, Zedd and Honne. Her song “Love Is a Compass” was synced on the Disney 2020 Christmas advertisement.
You can watch her talent on display in the YouTube video series she put together called ‘Against the Clock’ in which she and a musical guest have one hour to recreate some of their favourite songs. As one of the youngest artists to win the award, Griff is off to an incredible start. We are proud that she is a part of the BMI family.
