Award-Winning Conductor/Composer Lucas Richman Completes BMI’s 21st Annual Conducting Workshop
Eight skillful film & TV composers completed a two-week workshop culminating in a finale performance at Nathan Barr’s Bandrika Studio on July 21st
BMI completed its 21st annual two-week conducting workshop series led by BMI Classic Contribution Award winner, conductor and composer Lucas Richman. For the final session that took place on July 21st, the eight hand-selected composers conducted a 32-piece orchestra live to picture at BMI composer Nathan Barr’s newly built Bandrika studio.
During the intensive workshop, the talented group of film and television composers honed their composing skills in an intimate setting under Richman’s guidance. This year’s participants included Alexander Bornstein (Lifetime’s Disappeared), Andy Forsberg (Lifetime’s Counterfeiting in Suburbia), Cindy O’Connor (ABC’s Once Upon A Time), Peter Karr (Amazon’s How We Got Here), Genevieve Vincent (Mixed Match), Ben Bromfield (Dreamworks/Netflix’s Boss Baby: Back in Business), Timo Chen (Advantageous) and Oumi Kapila (Queens of the Stoned Age). The classes were coordinated by BMI’s Ray Yee and Philip Shrut, as well as BMI’s Film, TV & Visual Media Creative team.
Past participants of the annual workshop have included top Hollywood composer Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans), Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Blackfish), Laura Karpman (Underground, The Living Edens), Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Up in the Air), Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Supernatural), Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Contagion), Lolita Ritmanis (Batman Beyond, Teen Titans), and Fil Eisler (Empire) to name a few.
