BMI musician and songwriter Atticus Ross received resounding confirmation that his foray into film composition is a propitious one as he shared the win for Original Score for The Social Network at the 83rd Academy Awards, held Sunday, February 27 in Los Angeles. The skilled composer also picked up the Golden Globe trophy for the same score earlier this year. Ross’s victory underscores the diversity and superiority of BMI’s deep roster of film and television music composers, which spans legends including John Williams and Lalo Schifrin, legends-in-the-making like Alexandre Desplat and Rachel Portman, strong new forces like Ross, Abel Korzeniowski and Nathan Barr, and so many others.

Ross created the distinct sound for the film with his longtime collaborator Trent Reznor. Next up: The pair will compose the music for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, also directed by The Social Network director David Fincher.
