Margaret Ann Rich Dies
Songwriter Margaret Ann Rich has died.
The wife of late legend Charlie Rich, she was also a magnetic creative force in her own right, and Rich credited her as one of the key reasons for his success.
Her best-known work, “Life Has Its Little Ups and Downs,” was inimitably recorded by her husband as well as Ricky Van Shelton, who topped country charts with his version. She also wrote Rich’s “Field of Yellow Yellow Daisies,” “A Sunday Kind of Woman” and “Nothing In the World,” while Tom Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge, Bobby Blue Bland, and more recorded her compositions as well.
A founding member of the Memphis branch of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Margaret Ann Rich is survived by her brother Jimmy Greene, children, and a host of grandchildren.
