Heypenny Clinches Final ‘Road to Bonnaroo’ Slot

Photo

Indie pop trio Heypenny scored the last 2009 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival slot Monday, May 18 in the third and final installment of a series of contests co-sponsored by BMI, Bud Select, and venue partner, Mercy Lounge. Dubbed “The Road to Bonnaroo,” the competition took place over the course of three monthly shows at Nashville hot-spot The Mercy Lounge, where each night, eight regional bands played three-song sets. To select the evening’s top contender, an industry panel comprising local music journalists, bloggers, and 8 off 8th hosts contributed one half of the verdict, while fan-voting through onsite ballots determined the other half.   Heypenny bewitched the crowd with their quirky pop-rock, driven by sanguine harmonies and punchy melodies.   To sample Heypenny, visit www.myspace.com/heypenny.
