Auspicious roots artist Christina Martin recently snagged the top prize in BMI’s Going Green contest. The Canadian singer-songwriter walked away with slots on the BMI main stage and the BMI Brunch at the Florida Music Festival and $1,000 to help cover travel expenses, while the music video for her latest single “Two Hearts” – featuring an introduction from BMI’s Samantha Cox – is currently featured on the homepage of the festival’s website. Martin was selected from thousands of hopefuls, all of whom submitted their original music through Sonicbids.com.

Christina Martin layers ambitious storytelling over a seamlessly synergized neo-folk and classic country foundation. She recently released her sophomore album, Two Hearts, to glowing acclaim, winning 2009 ECMA Pop Recording of the Year and two 2008 Music Nova Scotia Awards: Female Artist Recording of the Year & Pop/Rock Artist/Group Recording of the Year. The 2009 Florida Music Festival (FMF) is slated for May 13-16 in Orlando. The three-day event commandeers three blocks in the heart of downtown, offering nonstop showcases of more than 250 performers from all over the country. BMI will announce complete lineups and details for both the FMF BMI main stage and BMI Brunch in the coming weeks.
