2008 Golden Globe Nominees Include Slew of BMI Composers
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced nominees for the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards Thursday, December 11, and BMI composers number prominently among the prestigious nominees.
In the Best Original Score field, multiple BMI Award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat garnered a nod for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Versatile Indian composer A.R. Rahman was also tapped in the prestigious Best Original Score category for his work on film Slumdog Millionaire.

BMI Icon Peter Gabriel, along with collaborator and BMI Richard Kirk Award recipient Thomas Newman, will vie for Best Original Song honors for “Down to Earth” from Wall-E. Pop culture darling Miley Cyrus and two-time BMI Songwriter of the Year Jeffrey Steele also earned a Best Original Song nod: the pair co-penned “I Thought I Lost You” for the motion picture Bolt. Amanda Ghost and Ian Dench (both PRS) are also celebrating well-deserved Best Original Song recognition for their contribution to film Cadillac Records, “Once in a Lifetime.”
