Music 2.0 Panel Covers Your Assets

Photo

BMI's Richard Conlon spoke on the "Covering Your (Musical) Assets" panel at the recent Music 2.0 Conference held last month in Los Angeles. Other panelists included moderator Eric German, Partner, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp; Jamie Perlman, Director, Business Development, SNOCAP; Marc Morgenstern, VP, Rights Holder Relations & Music Sales, Navio; Bruce Davis, CEO, Digimarc; and Albhy Galuten, VP, Digital Media Technology, Sony Corporation of America.

Panelists discussed digital rights management, including how to balance what's good for the consumer against what's good for the copyright holder, how to make sure consumers pay for digital music, and how to balance spreading awareness of music with ensuring some kind of purchase happens somewhere down the line.

Music 2.0 brings together industry leaders to analyze trends and developments affecting the business of digital music, including music's growing portability, digital distribution, piracy, desktop music production, industry consolidation, online marketing, and the rapidly expanding number of services targeting music consumers. Presented by iHollywood Forum, Music 2.0 wrestles with the questions at the heart of music's malaise and how the business must reinvent itself in the digital age.
