Country Hitmakers Make Music for a Good Cause in the Caribbean

BMI songwriters and artists hopped a few islands and sang more than a few songs Jan. 13 and 14 during the 3rd Annual Country in the Caribbean.

Anguilla hosted two nights of intimate acoustic shows attended by native islanders and tourists alike, featuring sets by Grammy Award winner and 2006 BMI Country Songwriter of the Year Vicky McGehee (“All Jacked Up”), along with Wendell Mobley (“Fast Cars and Freedom”), Chuck Jones (“Cadillac Ranch”), James Slater (“In My Daughter’s Eyes”), Chuck Cannon (“How Do You Like Me Now”) and Rivers Rutherford (“When I Get Where I’m Going”), along with three-time Grammy nominee Pat Green (“Wave on Wave”), for.

All proceeds from the event help local children in Anguilla head to college in the United States. So far, four students have paid their tuition with funds generated by the Festival, and the success of this year’s run promises more dollars for the education of Anguilla’s youth.
