BMI Sends Birthday Wishes to BEP’s Taboo

The Standard Hotel on L.A.'s Sunset Strip was the location of a recent birthday celebration for BMI songwriter Taboo of multicultural hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas. The Mexican-American rapper joined the Los Angeles-based crew in 1995.

The Black Eyed Peas, which also includes members wil.i.am, Apl.de.Ap and Fergie, is arguably one of the most successful hip-hop groups of all time. Their list of accolades includes two American Music Awards, a Soul Train Award, and a Best Rap Performance Grammy for their infectious hit, "Don't Phunk With My Heart," off their triple-platinum release, Monkey Business. That song, along with "Let's Get It Started," were both BMI Pop winners at the 2006 ceremony
