Sam Bush Celebrates Album Release with BMI

Sam Bush calls himself the "King of New Grass," and the progressive icon gave a live performance on BMI's rooftop recently that fortified his claim. An eager crowd gathered to celebrate the release of Bush's sixth solo effort, Laps in Seven.

With roots planted deeply in bluegrass, Sam Bush shirks traditional boundaries and injects his music with doses of reggae and jazz. The unique result is worthy of the confident "new grass" label, for it remains exactly that -- always fresh, with hints of bluegrass roots peaking out from underneath the multi-layered sound.
