Held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death, Ono accepted the award admitting that it had been a difficult week for her.

The Recording Academy Honors acknowledge those whose outstanding achievements and contributions have significantly enriched the music community and the community at large. Formerly known as the Heroes Awards, proceeds from the event support the New York Chapter's ongoing advocacy, education and professional development programs.
