Mariah Carey Tops List of AMA Nominees

Comeback queen Mariah Carey leads the list of BMI artists and songwriters nominated for the 33rd annual American Music Awards with four nods, including Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album in both the pop/rock and soul/r&b categories. Her multiplatinum album The Emancipation of Mimi, which held the #1 spot on the Billboard Albums chart for several weeks, remains in the Top 10 more than five months after its release.

Nominations for the American Music Awards are based on sales figures and radio play, and winners are selected by a survey of about 20,000 listeners. The 2005 American Music Awards will take place on November 22 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angles; the show will be televised live by ABC.
