Songwriter/actress Emma Lahana Joins BMI Family

Singer/songwriter and actress Emma Lahana stopped by the BMI New York office recently to sign up for performing rights representation. The 21-year-old New Zealand native is currently working on her debut album with BMI songwriter/producer Peter Zizzo (Avril LaVigne, Celine Dion, Vanessa Carlton) and has just signed a recording deal with his production company, Big Much.

Involved in the arts from a very young age, Lahana most recently starred in Disney's Power Rangers Dino Thunder series as Kira Ford, the Yellow Ranger. Her character, a high school student who is also a singer/songwriter and guitarist with her own band, performed regularly on the show. In 2002, she played the role of Fiona in the Disney Channel original movie You Wish! and for two seasons, had a part in the New Zealand TV drama, "Shortland Street."
