BMI Is Looking For Missing Heirs

Are you the heir, or do you represent the heir, of a deceased BMI songwriter or composer? If so, (and you have not already had contact with BMI), please email missingheirs@bmi.com so that we can determine how to handle the deceased writer's BMI song catalog.

Be sure to include the following information in your email:

  • deceased writer or composer's full name
  • your relationship to the deceased
  • your full name
  • current mailing address
  • phone number
  • email address

With a repertoire of more than 6.5 million musical works from around the world, the performing rights organization collects license fees from businesses that use music, and then distributes those fees as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
