Herbie Hancock Receives Golden Score Award

BMI composer and jazz pianist/keyboardist Herbie Hancock was honored by the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers (ASMAC) at their 66th Annual Golden Score Awards dinner on June 4 in Santa Monica, Calif. The multiple Grammy Award-winning artist was saluted with an all-star musical tribute that included performances by George Duke, Terri Lyne Carrington, Greg Phillinganes, Dave Carpenter and an alumni group from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.

Shown at the Golden Score Awards dinner are BMI composer/pianist Greg Phillinganes, BMI's Doreen Ringer Ross, Golden Score Award recipient Herbie Hancock and BMI's Linda Livingston.

Founded in 1938, ASMAC offers annual scholarships in both arranging and composing, and annually recognizes leaders in the field with the Golden Score Award, the President's Award and the Irwin Kostal Award.
