BMI Has No Trouble Keeping Up With the Joneses

Los Angeles-based band 4th Avenue Jones dropped by the BMI New York office recently to perform some of their new songs for staff members. In town for a Gibson Guitar showcase, the hip-hop flavored rock 'n soul outfit's new album, entitled STEREO: The Evolution of Hiprocksoul (LookAlive/Gotee/EMI), is due out on March 29.

Pictured after the performance are (standing) BMI's Charlie Feldman, lead vocalists Tena and Ahmad Jones, BMI's Mark Barron, band manager Majic, guitarist Timmy Shakes, drummer Dee Calloway, BMI's Beka Callaway, band attorney Tim Mandelbaum, bassist "Phat" Al Parker, (kneeling) BMI's Samantha Cox, violinist Gailybird and band attorney Monika Tashman

Fronted by vocalist/producer Ahmad Jones and his wife Tena, the band also consists of guitarist/producer Timmy Shakes, bassist "Phat" Al Parker, drummer Dee Calloway and violinist Gailybird. A unique combination of talented artists, 4th Avenue Jones blends several influences together with clever lyrics and infectious melodies, resulting in powerful songs that touch on a variety of themes based on the band's life experiences and personal feelings.
