BMI Composers Score Creative Emmys

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awarded the 2003-2004 Creative Arts Primetime Emmys for programs and individual achievements at the 56th Annual Emmy Awards presentation held September 12 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. BMI composers and songwriters Velton Ray Bunch, Harry Connick, Jr. and Eddy Free were among this year's winners.

Film and television composer Velton Ray Bunch took home his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore) for "Star Trek: Enterprise: Similitude." Grammy Award winning BMI artist/songwriter Harry Connick, Jr. picked up an Outstanding Music Direction Emmy for his PBS special entitled "Harry Connick, Jr.: Only You In Concert (Great Performances)," and songwriter Eddy Free earned the prestigious statuette for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the original song "Because You Are Beautiful" from the V-Day documentary, "Until The Violence Stops."

Emmys in 27 other categories will be presented at the 2004 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast on Sunday, September 19 at 8:00pm ET/PT on ABC.
