BMI’s UK Stars on Top at Brit Awards

Some of BMI's biggest British songwriters and artists were among the winners at the 2004 Brit Awards, held February 17 at Earls Court in London.


Busted

UK pop/rock trio, Busted, took home two of the three Brits for which they were nominated, including Pop Act and British Breakthrough Artist. New Zealand-born singer/songwriter Daniel Bedingfield, also nominated for three awards, was named British Male Solo Artist. Grammy Award-winning duo The White Stripes, earned the International Group title, while Basement Jaxx won the British Dance Act trophy.

Established in 1977, the Brit Awards is a charity event that donates all proceeds to the British Record Industry Trust, better known as the Brit Trust, an organization that encourages the exploration and pursuit of the educational, cultural and therapeutic benefits of music. The Brit Awards is one of the UK's most exciting, most talked about and most successful music events. The awards ceremony was televised the next day on UK's ITV1.
