“Brokenheartsville” Established at #1

BMI Nashville led the celebrating for "Brokenheartsville," Joe Nichols' second #1 hit, with a party at The Trap (4/1). BMI songwriters Randy Boudreaux, Clint Daniels and Donny Kees were honored, along with co-writer Blake Mevis and producer Brent Rowan. Also recognized by BMI were publishers Borchetta Shafer Music, Hardwood Acres Publishing, Randon Songs and Sony/ATV Acuff Rose Music as well as Universal South's Tony Brown and Tim DuBois.

Kees, a 30-year affiliate, earned BMI Country Awards and topped the charts in previous years with "When Did You Stop Loving Me" (George Strait), "I'm Not Supposed To Love You Anymore" (Bryan White) and "If I Never Stop Loving You" (David Kersh). His songs have been recorded by several other artists including Reba McEntire, Daryle Singletary, Joni Bishop, Aaron Tippin and Ricochet. Diamond Rio's recording of Kees' "I Believe" is currently in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks.

Boudreaux previously scored #1 hits with "Alibis" (Tracy Lawrence) and "Who Needs You Baby" (Clay Walker). He earned BMI Country Awards for those songs in addition to "Goodnight Sweetheart" (David Kersh). Other artists who have recorded Boudreaux's songs include Clay Walker, Doug Stone, George Jones and Sammy Kershaw.

"Brokenheartsville" is the first #1 for Daniels, who is currently working on his debut Sony Nashville album to be released this summer.
