Keith Urban’s ‘Somebody Like You’ Takes Top Spot

Friends, family and music industry cohorts converged at BMI Nashville for a relaxing post-Country Music Week fete to honor keith urban for writing and recording his second #1 single, "Somebody Like You" (11 /7). The debut single from urban's sophomore Capitol Records release Golden Road, "Somebody Like You" has been in the top spot for seven weeks in Radio & Records and six weeks in Billboard. Urban's publisher, Coburn Music, Inc., and the album's producer, Dann Huff, were also recognized at the reception. Other special guests included parents Bob and Marienne Urban from Australia, and Steve Wariner, who collected a 2002 BMI Country Award for keith's hit "Where The Blacktop Ends." "Somebody Like You" co-writer John Shanks, who lives in Los Angeles, was unable to attend.

"But For The Grace Of God" was urban's first #1. He won the Horizon Award at last year's CMA Awards, and performed "Somebody Like You" at the 2002 show.
