BMI New York to Hold Indie Distribution Q&A

BMI New York will host a panel entitled "Indie Distribution" as part of its ongoing Q&A series. The panel will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 6pm in the 3rd floor Media Room at BMI's New York office (320 West 57th Street). Panelists will include top music industry executives in the independent distribution market including Flipmode Records GM Brian Jones, Red Distribution VP Alan Becker and attorney Patrick Holness.

BRIAN JONES - General Manager, Flipmode Records. Responsible for artists such as Busta Rhymes, Rah Digga, and Flipmode Squad. Duties include all aspects of running a record label such as signing new artists, film projects, tour management, marketing, promoting, merchandising, etc. Mr. Jones was previously General Manager of Cheeba Sound/Virgin.

ALAN BECKER - Vice President Product Development of Red Distribution. Mr. Becker is responsible for signing independent labels to Red Distribution's roster in order to distribute the independent label's records and other merchandise. He is also responsible for finding artists to sign to the company's Red Rum label.

H. PATRICK HOLNESS - graduated from Columbia University in 1991 and Brooklyn Law School in 1994. His practice includes all areas of entertainment law including copyright and royalty. He also has extensive experience in dealing with contracts including recording contracts, distribution contracts, and production agreements. Mr. Holness mostly represents independent record labels, but also deals with musicians and artists. He also lectures at industry events.
