BMI Composers Heard as Oscar� Noms Unveiled
BMI composer John Williams and BMI songwriters/artists Sting, Enya, Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan were among the top nominees for the 74th Annual Academy Awards, announced February 12 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Williams, who has won the coveted statuette five times, added two more nominations to his 38 and will compete against himself in the Original Score category for A.I.: Artificial Intelligence and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He has also just written his fourth Olympic theme for the XIX Olympic Winter Games, which he conducted during the Opening Ceremonies in Salt Lake City, UT on February 8, his 70th birthday.
This is the second nomination for pop icon Sting (PRS), whose song "Until" from the film "Kate & Leopold" received the nod for Original Song. He was up for an Oscar last year with "My Funny Friend and Me" from the animated film "The Emperor's New Groove." New age artist Enya (PRS) and co-writers Ricky Ryan (PRS) and Roma Ryan (PRS) were also nominated in the Original Song category for "May It Be" from the blockbuster movie "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring."
The Oscars will be telecast live on ABC on Sunday, March 24 from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
