BMI Congratulates Our Oscar Nominees

BMI songwriters and composers garnered 5 Oscar nominations in the Original Score and Original Song categories. The 75th annual presentation will be held in Los Angeles March 23.

Original Score

  • John Williams - Catch Me If You Can
  • Thomas Newman - Road To Perdition

Original Song

  • Paul Simon - "Father and Daughter" from "The Wild Thornberrys Movie"
  • John Kander & Fred Ebb - "I Move On" from "Chicago"
  • Eminem & Jeff Bass - "Lose Yourself" from "8 Mile"

"Catch Me If You Can" is Williams's 42nd Oscar nomination and Newman is enjoying his 5th with "Road To Perdition."

Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones, both nominated in acting categories, perform Kander & Ebb's "I Move On" in the 13-times nominated musical "Chicago." The famed Broadway composers were previously nominated in 1975 for "How Lucky Can I Get?" from "Funny Lady." Eminem's "Lose Yourself" is his first nomination. The song reflects the plot of his semi-autobiographical film "8 Mile." The multiple Grammy-winning Simon also received his first nomination for the animated feature "The Wild Thornberrys Movie."
