Composer George S. Clinton Has No ‘Shame’

BMI dropped by the studio where composer George S. Clinton was wrapping up work on his original score to the latest John Waters film, A Dirty Shame, released this fall. The movie, set in his beloved Baltimore, is classic Waters (Hairspray, Pink Flamingos) and stars Tracey Ullman as an uptight housewife who suffers a concussion in a freak traffic accident and suddenly becomes a raging sex fiend. Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair and Chris Isaak round out the cast of this wacky and risque comedy.

Shown in the studio are (seated) BMI composer George S. Clinton and producer/director John Waters, and (standing) BMI's Doreen Ringer Ross, music supervisor Tracy McKnight and film editor Jeff Wolf.

For A Dirty Shame, Clinton got to revisit his Southern roots and compose a score and theme song called "Let's Go Sexin'" that celebrates the rockabilly music he listened to as a kid. A prolific composer who began his professional musical career as a songwriter, arranger, and session musician in Nashville, his other movie scores include all three Austin Powers movies, as well asMortal Kombat, The Santa Clause 2, Joe Somebody and The Astronaut's Wife.
