Senior Director, Business Development - NY417

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Lead manager for new customer relationship development for the new media group.
  • Act as the first point of contact between a potential licensee and BMI.
  • Participate on the team overseeing the future development and maintenance of the Digital Licensing Center and proposes enhancements and improvements to help make the service more effective.
  • Close business and generate incremental licensing revenue.
  • Maintain inherent licensing revenue base.
  • Develop contact databases.
  • Recommend new license types to meet market needs.
  • Ensure that service level to licensees is optimal.
  • Provide expert guidance and input on emerging digital markets.
  • Maintain personal network of decision makers in the digital media world to enhance BMI’s business development goals.
  • Represent BMI at industry events.
  • Some travel required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience at a digital media or entertainment company required.
  • College degree required. MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record in building new business relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to close new business and generate incremental revenues within the parameters of BMI’s existing form licenses.
  • In depth knowledge of the digital rights marketplace.
  • Network of contacts in the digital media.
  • Proven ability to manage existing business and maximize revenues from “house” accounts.
  • Ability to analyze client data reports to determine trends and their potential financial impact on the inherent business.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and inspire co-workers to provide superlative customer service.
  • Ability to successfully manage internal relationships within the company to ensure that proper administration, billings, music use reporting and account maintenance are performed by the proper shared service departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication, written and verbal, including public presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of sales, accounting and licensing systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
