We are looking for an individual to recruit and assist prospective and established writers, publishers, producers and artists to BMI.

  • Develop relationships with up-and-coming music professionals, songwriters, artists, and tastemakers to secure future talent for BMI and assist in the development and continued growth of market share in all genres of BMI music, including Alternative, Indie, Pop, Rock and Contemporary.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for establishing, improving, monitoring and training of data management and data quality processes for the organization. This position provides participatory guidance and oversees adherence to the data and information policies for the organization. A BMI Purchasing Coordinator prepares and maintains purchase orders, provides general purchasing-related support to all BMI staff, maintains vendor database in Oracle and assists Accounts Payable with invoice processing and receiving to resolve receipt or invoice discrepancies.

Work with Senior Management to support the development of mid to long-term strategic planning initiatives. Manage the coordination of a portfolio of initiatives resulting from enterprise wide strategic plan to ensure optimal sequencing and resource load. Manage cross department development of alternate contingency strategies to mitigate risk. Design and execute market research studies and business opportunity assessments from data collection to reporting and recommendations, including analysis of key business driver metrics, competitive benchmarking and scenario planning analysis.

  • Work with senior management to develop recommendations for additional close-to-core and other administrative and licensing service offerings to support the company’s strategic plan.

Broadcast Music, Inc. As a performing right organization, BMI collects fees by issuing licenses to various users of music, including television and radio stations and networks; new media, including internet services and websites and mobile technology businesses; satellite audio services like XM and Sirius; digital jukeboxes; live concert venues; and other businesses, including nightclubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that use music to enhance the customer experience. BMI currently represents an award-winning catalog of more than 7.5 million compositions – a number that is constantly growing. As the catalog grows and the landscape of music use changes, BMI periodically engages in negotiations with industries to ensure that fees accurately reflect the value of the music in the marketplace.

BASIC FUNCTION: The Executive Director, Business Affairs will be instrumentally involved in the support of BMI’s domestic licensing negotiations with media and other businesses that use music. The successful candidate will manage a variety of day-to-day functions associated with Business Affairs’ role within the Licensing group. Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: The Executive Director, Business Affairs must possess a Juris Doctor Degree with a minimum of five years major law firm experience or the quantifiable equivalent. The successful candidate must possess admission to the New York Bar without restriction or limitation. The successful candidate must have prior experience managing personnel, and be proficient in standard computer competencies, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
