Mike Holober, Associate Musical Director

Pianist, composer-arranger, and educator Mike Holober is Artistic Director/Conductor of Westchester Jazz Orchestra and Composer-In-Residence with the Gotham Wind Symphony.  He has performed with/had his works performed and recorded by the HR Big Band in Frankfort, the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, the Vanguard Orchestra, the Gotham Wind Symphony, Westchester Jazz Orchestra, the Airmen of Note, the Army Blues, Prism Saxophone Quartet, John Patitucci, the Tim Ries Rolling Stones Project, Nick Brignola, Jason Rigby, Dave Pietro, Charles Pillow, and many others. In addition to directing the Westchester Jazz Orchestra and his own big band, the Gotham Jazz Orchestra, Mike holds the piano chairs in the Anita Brown JO, the Pete McGuinness JO, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society and the NewYorkestra.

An assistant professor at the City College of New York, Mike directs the big band and teaches jazz composition/arranging, and harmony/improvisation.  He is a MacDowell Fellow, Ucross Foundation Fellow and Corporation of Yaddo Guest. 

Mike’s fourth recording as leader, Quake, with the Gotham Jazz Orchestra, is due out in 2008.
