Jose Promis - This Chilean-born songwriter, who now lives in Silver Lake, once fell under the spell of history, geography, international singers and “the old world,” or, as better said by a friend, “a triumvirate spell of Latin romanticism, Catholic mysticism and American urban reality.” All of which inspired him to write music reflecting genres of Latin, tragicomic cabaret/European type/club music, and other sounds of eclecticism. John Roccio – Most noted for heading the group Cathexis, this Fairfield, CT transplant’s music was further developed by the influence of New Orleans culture, and after becoming immersed in the local New Orleans music scene, Cathexis headed overseas and settled in London, developing a fan-base and playing shows all over Europe. Now in Los Angeles, Roccio is celebrating the release of Cathexis’s self-titled debut CD. Go to www.cathexismusic.net for more.

Dakota – Dakota is made up of Ohio born singer & acoustic guitarist Michelle Hemmer and Georgia born singer Claudette Powell. The band fuses together Michelle’s mid-western pop roots and Claudette’s southern country & blues background to create a highly original, catchy sound that blends intricate harmonies and hook-heavy melodies. Their music can be classified as pop-rock with some country, folk and blues influences. Go to www.dakotaband.com for more.

Louis Yoelin – This L.A. based singer-songwriter was the 1st place winner of the 2003 Unisong International Songwriting Contest in the Rock Category for his piece “Won’t You Let Me Pet Your Dog,” and has recently completed his master’s in music composition from UCLA. In a recent collaboration with Thom Russo, Yoelin produced a CD of original pop songs with which he hopes to obtain a publishing or record deal. Go to www.louisyoelin.com for more.
