Women in Music Panel: Atlanta
BMI, in conjunction with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), is proud to present a first of its kind panel and showcase for Atlanta, Women in Music, taking place at Vinyl (1374 West Peachtree inside Earthlink Live) at 7pm. This event recognizes, celebrates and supports the contribution of women to the modern genres of music, including rock, pop and urban. The panel portion of the event will be moderated by Jan Smith, vocal producer and National Trustee for NARAS, and will be comprised of nationally-recognized panelists. Confirmed panelists include Mimi Vasquez, Senior Editor, Vibe Magazine; Susan Silver, artist manager whose client roster includes Audio Slave and Alice in Chains; Carla de Santis, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of ROCKRGRL Magazine; Catherine Brewton, VP of Writer-Publisher Relations, BMI Atlanta; and Stephony Smith, award-winning BMI country music songwriter. Following the panel will be two to three song performances by up-and-coming regional and national female talent including Algebra, Allastor, Aslyn (Capitol Records) and Deen Rene. The showcase is open to the public. Admission is $10 for Recording Academy and BMI members; $20 for nonmembers and non-affiliates. Seating is limited.
