BMI is pleased to offer a service that allows songwriters and composers who do not currently have a bank account to enjoy many of the advantages of an ATM card for access to their BMI royalties. Writers and composers who travel frequently and need access to their money on the road, or who don’t like to carry a lot of cash with them may also wish to take advantage of this service. We call it “The Card,” and it may offer you some valuable new financial options.
Here’s how it works: If you authorize us to issue you “The Card,” BMI will deposit your quarterly royalties directly to a bank account set up in your name. Then you can withdraw your royalties using “The Card” from any of the more than 800,000 ATM machines around the country. You can also use “The Card” in supermarkets and other stores that accept debit cards.
It is important to understand that “The Card” is not a credit card. It does not permit cash advances; it does not give you access to any future BMI royalties. Money is only available in your new account at the time of the regular quarterly royalty distribution. The money in the account set up for “The Card” does not pay any interest, and all normal ATM transaction fees will apply.
If you already have a bank account, we strongly recommend you consider the advantages of BMI’s Direct Deposit program for your royalty payments. Direct Deposit provides you with instant access to funds just as with “The Card.” Whichever option you choose, you will be assured of receiving your royalties in a timely and efficient manner, without the worry of waiting for checks to arrive, cashing them or misplacing them.
