      <content:encoded><![CDATA[With sponsorship from BMI, singer/songwriter <a id='f265' class='f265' href='/affiliate/C265'>Abby Dobson</a> entertained for the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) 2003 CEO Dinner at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel in New York. AH&LA is a federation of state lodging associations throughout the United States, with some 11,000 members nationwide representing more than 1.4 million rooms. AH&LA members use the music of BMI affiliates extensively in their properties, and their trade association negotiates with BMI on behalf of its members.       <title>BMI Artists Vying for Grand Prize in Music Quest Contest</title>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[BMI artists <A id="f2213" class="f2213" href="/affiliate/C2213">Anne Heaton</A>, the Katie Todd Band and the <A id="f265" class="f265" href="/affiliate/C265">Abby Dobson</A> Band have been named regional finalists in the <A href="http://www.soulcitycafe.com" target="_blank">Soul City Caf&#65533;</A> Music Quest contest. Music Quest is Soul City Caf&#65533;'s first competition for bands and solo artists, featuring up-and-coming talent from around the US competing for the grand prize of opening for Jewel on her 2003 tour. Entries representing a variety of music styles and genres were initially screened and evaluated by Music Quest evaluators who narrowed finalists down to two bands and two solo artists from each region. Online voting by the Soul City Caf&#65533; community began March 31 and ends May 4. <P>Anne Heaton (Northeast finalist) sings each line of her insightful, unpretentious lyrics with authority and grace.       <title>IAAAM and BMI Celebrate Black Music Month</title>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<P align="left">The International Association of African-American Music (<A href="http://www.iaaam.com/home.html" target="_blank">IAAAM</A>), a Philadelphia area based non-profit organization, paid tribute to some of the best and brightest in black music during its 24th annual celebration of African-American Music Month. Co-sponsored by BMI, the IAAAM 2002: Visions in Music Celebration was held at the African-American Museum of Philadelphia on June 7 and 8.
