Catherine Brewton, Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta

As Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta, Catherine Brewton directs all writer/publisher relations activities in BMI’s Atlanta office, while working closely with Writer/Publisher staff members in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and London in signing new writers to the company. She and her staff create showcases, songwriter programs and seminars around the country to educate and expose new talent.

Brewton joined BMI from her position as Executive Director of the Recording Academy (NARAS), opening the Atlanta office in 1997 as Director, Writer/Publisher Relations. She was promoted to Senior Director in 1999; named Assistant Vice President in 2002 and Vice President in 2005. Brewton is involved in numerous organizations, including membership in NARAS, Women Executives of America, BESLA (Black Entertainment Sports Lawyer Association), Urban Network Advisor Committee, SAGMA (Stella Awards Nomination Committee) and the Atlanta Songwriters Association, and is on the boards of Dallas Austin Foundation, Camp Sunshine (Camp for Terminally ill children) Mayors Entertainment Commission, SAGMA, Harvest Kitchen (Facility that feeds homeless people) and Atlanta Women Shelter.

In addition to her music industry experience, Brewton’s varied professional background includes positions in promotion, marketing and finance. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.
